A Short Chat With My Muslim Neighbor

I have a muslim family neighbor and one of them is Toto. He is the eldest to his 2 siblings. He is 21 years old. Working somewhere in Quezon City. He is my brother's "ka-tropa" and he's living a simple.


I'm watching a free concert and healing mass of a Christian church when Toto greeted. He ask me "ano meron diyan?". "ahhm, concert daw eh.." i answered. "ng ano?" he ask. "Jesus Christ something something Church. Di ko maalala eh.. Basta church siya" i answered. I'll cut our conversation here and continue it later kasi kung iisa-isahin ko pa lahat ng pinagusapan namin naku sasakit kamay ko sa kakatype dito. Wahehe.. :D

While watching he tells me something about his religion which is muslim. Nakakuha tuloy ako ng tiyempo na magtanong. I ask him "may langit din ba kayo? Ano sa inyo yun?". I found out that they call their heaven "sulha" and hell "ahhmmn.. I forgot sorry. :D". I continue in asking him about his religion and i'm glad he entertained me. I found a lot of thing about his religion. This what i found out.

- If a muslim died after 24 hours the body must be buried. Strictly no crimation and no embalment. (kaya siguro 24 hours lang)

- They're believing that if a muslim not only the soul of the body will go to sulha but also the body itself. That's the reason why they always clean themselves.

- The worship service in their mosque are 5 times a day. If you're not availble to go to mosque it is ok to pray wherever they are 5 times a day.

- They're required to pray 5 times a day. 2 times in the morning, 2 times in the evening and 1 times sa madaling araw. (naalala ko tuloy yung isang tao na tuwing monday may prayer/devotion time sila ng family niya. :D)

- In a muslims life he/she must go to middle east and pray in mecca (sorry di ko alam spelling ng mecca nila) at list once.

- Quran prohibited for the none muslim.

- They believe that Jesus is just a prophet and also Moses.

- Jesus and Moses is in their Quran but as a prophet.

- And they believe that islam is the first religion in the world. That's the reason why if you are not an islam and converted to their religion they will call you "nagbalik-islam".

I found out a lot of things about muslims in our small time of chating.

After of good questions and answers about his religion. I felt like i am a "lazy Christian" because they are praying 5 times a day and something more that pa but me parang kulang or hindi sapat. They are also devoted and commited to their task, missions, and etc. as a muslim and did'nt fail to do it but me sometimes i failed my God.

Yes, i am not perfect but i know God will help me to be good as that. Yes, sometimes i failed Him but i'm doing my best to serve Him. Yes, sometimes i'm stumbled but there is a God who will help me stand. From now on i will do what God wants me to do. I will pray more than they do. I will commit and devoted myself more than they do. I will go and tell the world that Jesus live, suffered and died for us.

Yes, I am a Christian and i'm proud of it!
